I’m excited to be doing this blog for you guys! It’s October, and I am so glad to be changing into all things fall!

This month I will focus on getting your best hair. So what does that mean really? For some of us, it’s the style we’ve always wanted, that’s quick, easy, and effortless. If only it was as easy as picking a great photo.
We all know our hair has limits. The good man above blessed us with the locks we have, and sometimes it’s hard to marry those locks with our idea of our best hair. The good news is, with a little TLC and patience, I PROMISE you can find a style that you will love AND look awesome on you!
My favorite thing about being a stylist is learning about my clients TYPE of hair, daily LIFESTYLE, and merging this with their hair GOALS. It’s easy to have a client come in, and replicate a picture (to the extent this can be done). The bummer comes when we go home with this awesome style, only to realize it’s not what we expected. Especially if it’s difficult to style, and you have roots too soon.
Stylists have tools, products, and training that we don’t all have at home. So what good is a style
that doesn’t work for the real you? What if you could have something that embraced your natural hair, features, and ability? To me, this is your best hair.
My goal is simple....making you look your best. Matching color to your skin tone, having a
cut that compliments your face shape, and most of all....a style that is doable for you.
When you look at celebrities, no matter their age, they have a range of lengths and colors to their hair. 99% of the time, you will also notice their hair looks natural, and effortless. That’s because they have highly trained stylists that pursue their natural beauty.
They rarely have off the wall color, or some crazy haircut. Now, don’t get me wrong, these things are fun for a temporary change. I’m not knocking any of this, it’s just not my opinion of what is sustainable, that will withstand the test of time, and our changes in emotions (its proven us women change our hair based on how we feel).
My suggestion is, get lots of pictures together you like. Keep them on your phone, and take them to your stylist. When picking these, don't worry about what you should be picking, pick what you love. Remember things you have loved or hated that a stylist gave you. . At the end of the day, you certainly know what made you cringe when you had it, or what you got tons of compliments on WAY more than the stylist does. Look through pictures of yourself. What stands out? What made you look and feel great?
From there, if you have a good stylist, they will guide you to what’s best for you...all things considered. Sometimes goals take time, so keep this in mind. Your hair will be much healthier and you will experience much less shock if you understand your goals are, at times, met after a period of time. Our hair is just like working out, we can’t go from 0 to 6 pack in one workout.
A good stylist will always take time with you, looking at your pictures, and asking you the things I’ve said should be considered. If they aren’t, tell them. Don’t be afraid of a stylist being offended. If they are, find another one. I haven’t met a quality stylist in 17 years that was offended by pictures or client input. You will be wearing the style, so consultation is ESSENTIAL, not optional.
As always, I have included a video to help you before your next salon visit. Hopefully, this will help you find a great stylist and your BEST HAIR 💜.
One last thing....I would love to hear your feedback about your salon experiences, what did you love/hate? I also would love to hear questions or topics you guys would like discussed. Please send them my way! Check out the video to go along with this post :)
Till next time...
